OREM, Utah – Utah Valley women's volleyball travels to Texas for the 2024 WAC Volleyball Tournament this week at the College Park Center in Arlington. The Wolverines will open play on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 9:00 a.m. MT against the No. 6 seeded Southern Utah Thunderbirds. UVU finished the regular season right where they were picked, coming up third in the regular season standings.

LAST TIME OUT 
The Wolverines swept their last two matches, first over Tarleton State on Thursday behind 15 kills from 
Sami Blackett and 
Alyvia Jaffa, adding ten in her first collegiate start of her career. One of two seniors honored before the match, 
Jules Fink, finished with six kills and two blocks. UVU finished the regular season with Southern Utah as they held the Thunderbirds to a .069 hitting percentage in the match while tallying 13 blocks, led by Jaffa, who finished eight, with 
Bella Wooden and 
Avery Shewell adding five.
 
SCOUTING THE THUNDERBIRDS
The Wolverines hold a 13-2 all-time record over Southern Utah, who enters the tournament as the No. 6 seed after going 0-2 last week. Andrea Spasojevic has been good from the service line with 30 aces and has tallied 274 kills. Setter Teniyah Leuluai won the WAC Setter of the Week award a couple of weeks ago and leads them with 872 assists. SUU has made its first appearance in the tournament since 2022.
 
CHISM EARNS SETTER OF THE WEEK 
Chism finished UVU's two matches this week with 67 assists for an average of 11.17 in two sweeps by the Wolverines. She was important not only from her setter position, running the offense, but she also added four kills in the front line and defensively added five blocks.
 
On Thursday night against Tarleton State, Chism recorded 40 or more assists for the 13th time this season. She followed that up with her 16th double-double of the season, 27 assists, and 11 digs against Southern Utah. In her UVU career, she now ranks sixth all-time in double-doubles.
 
UVU WAC TOURNAMENT HISTORY
The Wolverines return to the WAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed. They became the last team to win the tournament on their home floor; the last team to do it before them was CSU Bakersfield back in 2013.
 
UVU has an 11-8 record in the WAC Tournament and has made the semifinals every year since 2016, including three consecutive championship matches from 2020-2022.
 
Utah Valley has only matched up with three current WAC teams in the field, holding an 0-2 record vs. Seattle and 2-0 records against both Grand Canyon and UT Arlington.
 
UP NEXT 
With a win, the Wolverines advance to play on Friday, Nov. 22, in the conference semifinals against either No. 2 seeded Grand Canyon or No. 7 seeded Seattle U. The match is slated for a 2:00 p.m. MT start on ESPN+. The championship match is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 23, at 6:00 p.m. MT on ESPN+.
