OREM—Utah Valley freshman golfer
Dane Huddleston has been named to the All-WAC First Team following a vote of the league's 11 head coaches the league office announced on Tuesday.

"It's really impressive stuff from Dane especially since he's only a freshman," said Utah Valley head coach
Chris Curran. "I'm excited for what the future holds for him. He is by far one of the most hard-working kids I've ever coached."

Huddleston wrapped up an impressive first season with the Wolverines this past week at the WAC Championship where he finished in a tie for seventh on the 54-player individual leaderboard with a three-round score of 2-over-par 218 (71-74-73). The seventh-place finish at the WAC Championship was his best finish of the season.

The Woodland, Washington native competed in 11 tournaments for Utah Valley this season, finishing with seven top-20 performances. He had five top-15 performances, including a pair of top-10 showings.Â

Huddleston finished 10th in the 99-player field at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational at The Reserve at Spanos Park on Oct. 18. He finished the tournament with a three-round 10-under-par 206 (70-69-67).Â

He also finished 12th on the 75-player leaderboard at the Ram Master's Invitational with a three-round 1-over-par 211 (69-71-71). Huddleston finished 13th at both the Loyola Intercollegiate and the UNC Spring Invitational.

The freshman golfer led Utah Valley to a pair of top-5 team finishes, including a second-place finish at the UNC Spring Invitational and a fourth place showing at the Ram Master's Invitational.Â

Huddleston finished the season with a 72.4 scoring average in 31 total rounds of action. He wrapped up the season with a 590-327-34 record.Â
