OREM— In a ceremonial turn of soil that marked the beginning of a new era, Utah Valley University celebrated the groundbreaking of the UCCU Stadium at Clyde Field on Tuesday. The celebration ushers in the construction of a state-of-the-art facility poised to elevate the UVU men's and women's soccer programs to new heights.
Sponsored by Utah Community Credit Union (UCCU), UCCU Stadium will be located on the west side of the current Clyde Field. It will be a premier venue for NCAA Division I soccer, promising an unmatched experience for players, fans, and the community.
"Today's groundbreaking symbolizes our dedication to excellence and community engagement," said Dr. Jared Sumsion. "We are immensely thankful for our partnership with UCCU, whose support has been crucial in making this vision a reality. UCCU's generosity underscores a shared commitment to fostering excellence and opportunity within our community."
The new stadium, sprawling over a 22,000-square-foot area, will feature a host of modern amenities aimed at enhancing the collegiate soccer experience. These include advanced locker rooms, a comfortable team lounge, specialized areas for visiting teams and officials, and an expanded spectator capacity of 3,000. This increase is made possible through the addition of 400 chairback seats and covered plaza seating. Additionally, the facility will boast an MLS-style press box with broadcast capabilities and eight luxury suites, ensuring a premium experience for guests.
"Soccer, or 'fútbol' as it's known around the world, holds a special place in our hearts. With the completion of the UCCU Stadium, we're set to elevate this beloved sport, offering our student-athletes and fans an unparalleled experience," remarked UVU President Dr. Astrid S. Tuminez. "This stadium is a game-changer, providing our soccer programs with a substantial competitive edge and opening up new opportunities for our athletes. Our sincere appreciation goes out to Bret VanAusdal and the entire UCCU team for their foresight, support, and deep commitment to enhancing our campus and community."

With the groundwork now laid, anticipation grows for the completion of the UCCU Stadium. This facility is set to become a cornerstone of UVU Athletics, providing a competitive edge for the Wolverines and an enhanced experience for fans.
"Supporting UVU signifies a profound investment in our collective future," stated Bret VanAusdal, CEO of UCCU. "This partnership extends far beyond the immediate benefits, enriching the lives of our youth, their families, and the broader Utah community. Given that a significant portion of UVU students are Utah natives who continue to live and work here post-graduation, our commitment also represents a vital contribution to the state's workforce, industries, and overall well-being."
