ARLINGTON, Texas — Utah Valley's Megan Gibbs has been named to the All-WAC first team and Halle Morris has earned All-WAC second team accolades, the league announced on Monday.
Gibbs, a redshirt junior infielder from Lilburn, Georgia, earned her second consecutive All-WAC recognition after earning second team honors in 2023. Morris, a graduate pitcher and utility player from Tucson, Arizona, earned the first all-conference recognition of her collegiate career.
Gibbs put up one of the most impressive regular seasons in Utah Valley softball history. Gibbs set the UVU single-season home run record with 15 — which also led the WAC — and is also within striking distance of the single-season RBIs, total bases, and slugging percentage records. Gibbs needs four more RBIs and 15 more total bases to set those records.
Morris has proven to be one of the most consistent players for the Wolverines this season, both in the circle and at the plate. Morris leads the team in wins, ERA, innings pitched, and on-base percentage, while coming second to Gibbs in batting average, hits, and RBIs. Morris had a team-best 17-game reached base streak earlier this season, and posted the second-most multi-hit and multi-RBI games on the team this year.
Utah Valley opens WAC Tournament play on Wednesday afternoon in Seattle, Wash., as the no. 3 seed. The Wolverines will play the winner of UT Arlington and Tarleton State at 5 p.m. MT. All WAC Tournament games will air on ESPN+.
