OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University Cross Country head coach
Scott Houle has announced the 2024 schedule, which is set to begin on Aug. 30 at the UVU Invitational at Scera Park. Utah Valley will also host the WAC Championships on Nov. 1, marking the second time the Wolverines will host the conference championships and the first time since 2015.
The women's team enters the 2024 campaign as the defending WAC Champions and off the team's second berth in the NCAA Championships. The Wolverine women finished 23rd at last year's NCAA Championship at the University of Virginia and return nearly all of their starters — including four first-team All-WAC selections.
The men, who finished second at the conference championship last fall, also return the majority of their roster, including all three first-team All-WAC honorees in
Mo Guled,
Abdulsalam Farah, and
Gilbert Olivas.
In addition to the season opener on Aug. 30, Utah Valley is slated to compete in its home state in five of the seven races prior to the NCAA Mountain Regionals. The Wolverines will also race at BYU (Sept. 13), at Southern Utah (Oct. 5), at Utah (Oct. 24), and will host the WAC Championships (Nov. 1).
UVU will also race at the Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota (Sept. 20) and at Pre-Nationals at the University of Wisconsin (Oct. 19).
The NCAA Mountain Regionals will be hosted by the University of Nevada, Reno and will be contested on Nov. 15, with the NCAA Championships back at Wisconsin on Nov. 23.
