OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University senior Oakley Olson was named the Jersey Mike's A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Cross Country Athlete of the Week, for the meet week ending on Saturday, Aug. 31. California Baptist's Zouhair Redouane was the winner on the men's side after winning his collegiate debut.  

Olson was the top finisher for the Wolverines, crossing the line as the runner-up while also helping Utah Valley win the team title. She ran the 3-mile race in 16:37.9, moving into second right before the finish line. Olson is coming off a junior season that saw her play a key role in WAC Championships in both cross country and outdoor track, and an individual berth at the NCAA Outdoor Regionals in the steeplechase.

Utah Valley will next be in action on Friday, Sept. 13 at Lakeside Park in Orem for the BYU Autumn Classic.
