Guled named USTFCCCA National Men's DI Athlete of the Week

NEW ORLEANS — Utah Valley University senior Mo Guled was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Assocation (USTFCCCA) Men's Division I National Athlete of the Week on Monday after his win at the 38th Roy Griak Invitational last Friday. It marks the first time a UVU student-athlete has received the national honor in cross country.

The first-place finish is Guled's second win in three races so far this season, winning the Roy Griak at Les Bolstad Golf Course in Minnesota with an 8k tie of 24:55.3, to win by 5.8 seconds. Per the USTFCCCA's release, he's the third athlete from the Mountain Region to win the Men's Gold 8k at the Roy Griak Invitational in the past four years, joining former BYU standout Conner Mantz (2021) and Habtom Samuel of New Mexico (2023).

Guled and the Wolverines are off this week before returning to action on Oct. 4 at Southern Utah's Color Country Invitational.
