OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University track & field is back in action this Saturday at the Roman Ruiz Speed & Power Meet at Utah State University. The one-day meet is being held at the George Nelson Fieldhouse in Logan. Live results will be available via Athletic Live.
The men's weight throw will begin at 9:30 a.m. to begin the day's competition with the women's long jump slated for a 9:45 a.m. start. The 5,000-meter women's race will open the events on the track, starting at 10 a.m.
The Wolverines have matched or set 12 school records this indoor season, including
Alyssa Logan twice breaking her own school record in the weight throw. She was named the WAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week on January 15, while
Ella Hopper was named the Women's Track Athlete of the Week, and
Aiden Garnett was named Men's Field Athlete of the Week after their record-breaking performances. Hopper broke the 400-meter record, and Garnett established the new high-jump mark.
Those three performances lead the WAC this season, with
Grace Degarimore (shot put),
Quincy Bonds (60mH), and
Mo Guled (3,000) also boasting the top spots in the conference.
Next week, the Wolverines will travel to Reno, Nevada for the Wolf Pack Classic on Feb. 7-8.
