PROVO, Utah — Utah Valley University Deputy Athletic Director Cathy Nixon was recently honored with an Alumni Achievement Award through the McKay School of Education at Brigham Young University, her alma mater.
Nixon, who is also the Senior Woman Administrator for UVU Athletics, was a two-time All-American as a player for BYU. She was part of a group recognized at BYU's home football game against the University of Utah on Oct. 18. Nixon spent 24 seasons leading the Utah Valley women's basketball program as its head coach, and has been with UVU for over three decades.
She was also enshrined in the Duncanville High School (Texas) Hall of Fame, where she was a multiple-time All-American at the prep level. A 1989 graduate of Brigham Young University, Nixon ranks seventh all-time at the school with 1,771 points scored. Her college career for BYU also resulted in a 2007 Hall of Fame induction.
