WOLVERINES OPEN BIG 12 SCHEDULE AT CBU
Utah Valley University opens the Big 12 dual schedule this week with a contest on Thursday night at California Baptist inside Van Dyne Gym in Riverside. The match starts at 6 p.m. PST/7 p.m. MST and will air as part of FloWrestling Night in America. It's the first of eight conference duals this season for the Wolverines and the lone Big 12 dual until the calendar switch to 2026. Utah Valley will also send a handful of wrestlers to Sunday's Roadrunner Open, hosted by CSU Bakersfield. Video and live results for that tournament are available on FloWrestling.
LAST TIME OUT
The Wolverines dropped a dual at Pac 12 Oregon State, 25-9, on Sunday in Corvallis. Haiden Drury picked up a ranked win in overtime, but the Beavers won seven of 10 matches, including a stretch of five straight, to secure the win. The Wolverines (1-1) also got victories from No. 12 David Evans and Jack Forbes.
Drury, who was ranked 25th last week by FloWrestling, went to sudden victory with No. 22 Nash Singleton at 141 before notching the winning takedown just over 40 seconds into the extra frame to improve to 4-1 on the season. Evans earned a hard-fought 4-3 win over Noah Tolentino at 149 after scoring the bout's only takedown. Forbes closed the night with a 7-2 win over Charley Hastriter at heavyweight, securing an early takedown before adding a second one late to seal the victory. At 197, Kael Bennie pushed No. 9 Justin Rademacher to the final seconds before the Beaver wrestler got the win with a last-second takedown to earn a 4-1 decision.Â
RANKINGS UPDATE
Evans moved up to No. 11 in the Intermat poll at 149 pounds but dropped a spot to No. 13 in FloWrestling's latest poll. Drury is into the Intermat poll at 141 for the first time, at No. 31, and is ranked 26th by FloWrestling. Ricks (125) and Uhlenhopp (184) are both in the FloWrestling polls, at No. 28 and No. 33, respectively.
