OREM—Top-seeded Utah Valley meets No. 2 seed California Baptist in the Western Athletic Conference Tournament championship match on Saturday afternoon at UCCU Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. MT on ESPN+.
The Wolverines (14-4-2) make their seventh WAC championship appearance after a dominant 7–0 semifinal win over Abilene Christian, tying the tournament record for goals scored in a match. Utah Valley is seeking the program's third WAC Tournament title (2015, spring 2021) and its fourth all-time NCAA Tournament berth.
Utah Valley continues to feature one of the nation's most explosive offenses and ranks top-10 nationally in seven NCAA statistical categories, including shots on goal per match, total goals, total assists and scoring offense. Graduate forward Faith Webber leads UVU in goals (21), points (46), shots (136) and shots on goal (62), while senior midfielder Ruby Hladek paces the Wolverines with 11 assists. In goal, senior Leah Wolf owns three solo shutouts and three combined clean sheets with a 1.18 goals-against average and 74 saves.
California Baptist (10–8–3) advanced to the final after a dramatic come-from-behind victory over Utah Tech, rallying late when Ava Westlund slipped home a 90th-minute equalizer to force overtime and then prevailing in penalty kicks; Mikayla O'Brien made two key saves in the shootout and captain Kaylee Hauck converted the deciding penalty to send the Lancers back to the title match.
Utah Valley holds a 7–4–2 advantage in the all-time series against California Baptist, including a dominant 6–1–1 record in Orem. UVU has had the upper hand in conference play (6–3–2) and has outscored the Lancers 27–18 across the series. The Wolverines swept both meetings this season, earning a 7–1 win in Orem on Oct. 3 — the largest margin in series history — and a 2–1 victory in Riverside on Oct. 18. Saturday marks just the second time the programs have met at the WAC Tournament, with the first coming last season when CBU edged Utah Valley 3–2 in the 2024 semifinal. This will be the first WAC Championship matchup between the two schools.
Utah Valley owns a 15-7-2 all-time record in the WAC Tournament and has reached the title match in five of the last seven tournaments. A win Saturday would give Utah Valley its fourth WAC Tournament championship and clinch the program's fifth NCAA Tournament appearance. A win would also break the program record for wins in a season.
