Wolverines open WAC Play on Monday night at California Baptist

OREM, Utah – Utah Valley women's basketball closes out the 2025 calendar year with its WAC opener on Monday, Dec. 29, against California Baptist at the Dale E. & Sarah Ann Fowler Events Center in Riverside, California. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT / 6 p.m. PT.

Utah Valley's conference opener will air on ESPN+ with Travis Van Noty on the call from Riverside. All Utah Valley WAC games are scheduled to air on the network. Live stats for the contest will be available at GoUVU.com/stats.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Wolverines are coming off a heartbreaking loss to Idaho State before the holiday break, falling 59-56. Utah Valley had the final possession but was unable to get a shot off before time expired. Three players scored in double figures, led by Saige Gibb's 14 points. Gibb finished 5-for-8 from the field, including an NBA-range 3-pointer to close the half, and added six rebounds in 29 minutes off the bench. Cambree Blackham chipped in 11 points and four steals, while Halle Nelson scored 11 points with six rebounds in her return after missing three games.
 
SCOUTING THE LANCERS
California Baptist opens WAC play at 6-7 and has dropped its last six games, including an 87-56 loss to No. 23 Nebraska on Dec. 21. The Lancers have four players averaging double figures, led by Lauren Olsen at 13.4 points per game. Emma Johansson, Grace Schmidt and Chloe Lemon round out the group of leading scorers for CBU. The Lancers rank No. 7 nationally in three-point attempts at 29.8 per game and sit No. 10 nationally in defensive rebounding, averaging nearly 31 boards per contest.
 
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST THE LANCERS
California Baptist holds an 11-3 all-time advantage over the Wolverines, though UVU earned a 59-50 victory last January. Tahlia White scored 17 points in the win, while Nelson posted 10 points and 14 rebounds. Both meetings last season took place in January. CBU has never lost to Utah Valley in Riverside and claimed a 77-50 win last season behind 11 3-pointers and 39 points from Lemon.
 
UP NEXT
The Wolverines return home later in the week to host Tarleton State on Thursday, Jan. 1, before traveling to Abilene Christian on Saturday, Jan. 3. Tipoff for both contests is scheduled for 2 p.m. MT.
