FORT COLLINS, CO – On the strength of a record-setting season, the Utah Valley University women's basketball team has been selected to participate in the 27th annual Postseason WNIT, powered by Triple Crown Sports. The 48-team tournament gets underway on Thursday, March 20, with specific match-ups, dates, and times to be announced on Monday.

The Wolverines have won a program record 18 games so far this season, their most as members of NCAA Division I, and just completed a trip to the WAC Tournament semifinals last Friday after a quarterfinal win over Abilene Christian, who is also among the at-large selections for the WNIT. Tarleton State was the WAC's automatic qualifier to the WNIT, with tournament runner-up UT Arlington giving the WAC four teams in the field. Other members of the field Utah Valley faced this year include Air Force and Alabama A&M, a team the Wolverines defeated by two at the San Diego's Thanksgiving tournament.

"Our longstanding belief has always been that women's college basketball demanded the respect that comes with a genuine postseason challenge outside the standard tournament," said Sarah Sullivan, WNIT director. "For more than a generation, we've been there to celebrate the determination and hard work of players, coaches and staff that helped make the sport so great. Others have tried to copy our model, but for pure excitement and the kind of competitive environment that lifts programs higher, the Postseason WNIT set the standard before the turn of the century."
