Game Recap: Softball |

Wildcats rally late to down Wolverines, 5-3

OREM, Utah — Amber Rodriguez extended her reached base streak to 12 games and Tatum Hall drove in two, but a three-run sixth inning rally by the Weber State Wildcats spelled doom for Utah Valley as the Wolverines fell 5-3 on Monday afternoon at Wolverine Softball Field.

Rodriguez's 12-game streak is the longest by a Wolverine this year and the longest since Halle Morris' 17-game stretch last season. Rodriguez walked three times, tying the program record for most in a single game.

Utah Valley struck first and in the bottom of the first and threatened for more, but only pushed across the one run. The Wolverines worked around a mishap on the bases thanks to a stolen base by Britney Moreno and a single by Hall to make it 1-0.

Weber State rallied for two in the top of the third with a two-run single by Olivia Birkinshaw, but Utah Valley answered right back with a two-spot of their own. Tatum Hall worked a bases loaded walk and Emma Haygood grounded out to second to bring across both runs.

Defensive miscues gave the Wildcats new life in the sixth, as two throwing errors directly allowed two runs to score and prolonged the inning allowing a third to come across.

Utah Valley went quietly in the final two frames, registering just one base runner on a Bailey Marvin walk.
