OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University women's basketball had four student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® team on Tuesday.
Saige Gibb,
Kylee Mabry,
Halle Nelson, and
Tahlia White were each honored for their academic and athletic success by the organization.
It marks the second straight season that Mabry, who was also named the WAC's Co-Sixth Player of the Year for her success on the court, has garnered a spot on the team. She's an exercise science major with a 3.83 cumulative GPA.
Gibb is a junior majoring in health science with a 3.83 cumulative GPA, Nelson is in the MBA program and is a 4.0 student after finishing her undergrad degree with a 3.91 GPA. White is also a graduate student completing a Master of Education degree in teacher leadership and boasts a 3.95 GPA in that program.
On the court, the quartet helped the UVU women's basketball program to its best season at the NCAA Division I level, with the team earning a school record 19 wins while advancing to the second round of the 2025 Postseason WNIT. That included the program's first NCAA postseason win, over Air Force last Friday in the WNIT.
White was named to the WAC All-Defensive Team after leading the Wolverines with 12.4 points per game overall and 15.4 per contest during WAC play. Nelson averaged 8.0 points and 6.9 rebounds per game on the season and pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds in the WNIT game at Washington State on March 24.
Mabry averaged 7.8 points per game during the season while coming off the bench in each of the 29 games she played in. Gibb averaged 3.5 points per game while coming off the bench in all 32 games this season.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. To be eligible, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore (athletically and academically), have a 3.50 cumulative GPA or better, and have appeared in 90% or started 66% of the institution's games.
