MARICOPA, Ariz.—Dane Huddleston recorded his sixth top-15 finish of the season, shooting a final-round 1-under-par 71 to tie for 14th in a competitive 120-player field at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club. Huddleston finished with a three-round total of 4-under-par 212 (67-74-71).
As a team, Utah Valley posted a 5-over-par 293 in Tuesday's final round to finish in a tie for 15th in the 23-team field with a three-round score of 9-over-par 873 (286-294-293). Long Beach State claimed the team title at 37-under-par 827 (275-276-276).
"To be successful at the college level, you need to make sure that your fourth score is a good one," said Utah Valley head coach
Chris Curran. "And this week, unfortunately we couldn't get a low fourth score. Ryan and Dane both played very solid this week."
Huddleston's final round featured five birdies and nine pars as he continued his strong season. He has now finished 15th or better in six of the eight tournaments he has competed in this season.
Ryan Seamons made a big move up the leaderboard in Tuesday's final round, firing a 3-under-par 69 to jump 26 spots and finish tied for 26th with a three-round total of 2-under-par 214 (73-72-69). Seamons carded four birdies and 13 pars in a near-flawless round.
Paxton Maxwell finished tied for 73rd with a three-round total of 6-over-par 222 (70-76-76). He recorded three birdies in his final round.
Clement Lepine tied for 101st at 13-over-par 229 (79-73-77), posting four birdies in the final round, including three on the back nine.
Isaiah Ellis rounded out the scoring with a 7-over-par 79 in the final round to tie for 104th at 14-over-par 230 (76-75-79), highlighted by two birdies and eight pars.
Utah Valley will wrap up regular-season play next week at the Gaucho Invitational, April 7-8, at Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara, California. The Wolverines will then prepare for the WAC Championship, April 25-27, at Chaparral Pines Golf Club in Payson, Arizona.
