LAST TIME OUT
Utah Valley dropped its midweek matchup on Tuesday at Weber State, 4-2 in Ogden. Rachael Brown had a pair of hits with an RBI and Payge Armendariz doubled for the second game in a row in the defeat.
Britney Moreno extended her hitting streak to a team-best eight games with a single in Tuesday's game. During that streak, Moreno is 15-for-30 (.500) with a home run, a triple, three doubles, and seven RBIs.Â
Megan Gibbs took one step closer to history with her record-tying 41st career home run on Saturday against ACU. With her next homer, Gibbs will break the program record originally set by Amanda Robinson (2011-14). In three career games against Tarleton State, Gibbs has three HRs, eight RBIs, and four runs scored.
SERIES HISTORY VS TARLETON STATE
Utah Valley has never lost to the Texans in six meetings, all in Orem. The Wolverines swept TSU last year with a pair of 9-4 victories and a 10-9 win in 8 innings. Mya Higareda played hero in that win, driving home Angel Mann with a single to right for the walk-off win.
Peyton Hall torched the Texans in that series, going 6-for-11 with two HRs, two doubles, seven RBIs, and five runs scored to earn D1Softball National Freshman of the Week honors.
SCOUTING THE TEXANS
Led by a powerful offense and a strong pitching staff, the Texans have four players with at least four home runs and 25 RBIs so far this season. Tarleton ace Shelby Schultz is the reigning WAC Pitcher of the Week after blanking Utah Tech with nine strikeouts over the weekend.Â
UP NEXT
The Wolverines will return home for a midweek contest against regional rival Idaho State on Tuesday, April 15 before having the weekend off. Utah Valley will then head to Seattle for the final road WAC series on April 25-26.
