LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Terrell Barraclough finished his run on Friday at the 2025 Senior Freestyle World Team Trials Challenge Tournament. He finished 1-2 on the day with a quarterfinal victory over Iowa's Michael Caliendo before suffering two hard-fought losses.

"I am proud of Terrell's effort and the way he represented Brunson Utah Valley RTC, and Utah Valley Wrestling today at the Senior World Team Trials," said UVU head coach Adam Hall.
"Although he did not get the ultimate outcome that he wanted, he leaves here with a win over this year's NCAA Runner-Up and a lot of motivation as he grows in this new territory of freestyle. Terrell means so much to our program, and I am excited about his future and continued development!"

In his quarterfinal match against three-time All-American Michael Caliendo, Barraclough used a four-point first period to take an early lead after the gap was narrowed by the 2025 NCAA 165-pound runner-up with a two-point takedown early in the second to make it 5-4. The one-point lead for UVU's sixth All-American was quickly extended with three consecutive points to go up 8-4. He held off a late offensive attack from Caliendo for an 8-7 victory and put himself in the afternoon's semifinal round.

Barraclough fell in the semifinals to the No. 1 overall seed David Carr (Cyclone RTC), the five-time NCAA All-American and two-time NCAA champion. Trailed after one period, he quickly responded with a takedown early in the second period to take his first lead but fell again when the No. 5 seed responded with his only takedown of the match to regain a narrow 3-2 edge; the momentum swung right back to Carr who recorded a pair of takedowns in the final 1:02 to secure the win and head into the championship bout.

In the evening consolation semifinals, he faced Joseph Blaze (Boilermaker RTC). Blaze was the 2025 NCAA runner-up at 157 pounds, but Barraclough jumped out to an early lead, going up 1-0 just over a minute into the bout, before in the final minute, Blaze took his first lead with a takedown to go up 2-1. He added two more takedowns and forced UVU's All-American to get on the offensive with under two minutes left, which he did, scoring on a pair of stepouts, but it was not enough to put him over the top.

Utah Valley and Brunson UVRTC will compete next at the U23 Nationals and U20 World Team Trials in Geneva, Ohio, on May 30 and June 1.
