MANHEIM, Pa. — The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced its NCAA Division I Men's Scholar All-American Awards on Wednesday, and Utah Valley University matched a program record with eight honorees.

Seniors Jack Forbes and Bridger Ricks lead the group as two-time recipients after also earning the honor last season. Forbes holds a 3.99 cumulative GPA as a chemistry major, while Ricks has a 3.98 GPA in business analysis.

They are joined by Kael Bennie, Jake Castagneto, David Evans, Hudson Rogers, Mark Takara and Zyon Trujillo. Bennie, Evans, and Forbes were all NCAA qualifiers this season.

"I'm proud of our team's accomplishments this year, both on the mat and in the classroom," head coach Adam Hall said. "Our eight Scholar All-Americans tie a program record and reflect the team's commitment to excellence academically. We've set a high standard, and our student-athletes continue to exceed expectations. Today is another great day for UVU wrestling as we build on our success."

The eight honorees bring UVU's total to 60 NWCA Scholar All-Americans since the program's first season of eligibility in 2008-09. Under Hall, 13 wrestlers have earned the award over the past two seasons.

A total of 390 student-athletes from 73 institutions were recognized for their academic success while competing throughout the season.
