OREM — Utah Valley University head men's basketball coach Todd Phillips has announced the signing of AJ Dixon, a 6-foot-5, 205-pound guard from Merrillville, Indiana, who joins the Wolverines after a redshirt season at Western Illinois.

"AJ has the ability to be a very impactful player for us with his ability to play both ways," said Phillips. "He has great athleticism and length and a hunger to get to the basket. Everyone we have talked to has loved him."

Dixon played the 2023–24 season at Triton College in Illinois, where he started 36 of 37 games and helped lead the Trojans to a 34-3 record and a runner-up finish at the NJCAA Division II National Championship. He averaged 16.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 51.1 percent from the field, 39.1 percent from three, and 80.2 percent at the free throw line. Dixon earned All-Tournament honors at both the Hutchinson NJCAA National Championship and Region 4 Tournament.

During the 2022–23 season, Dixon played at Eastern Florida State, appearing in 20 games and averaging 8.9 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest while shooting 48.5 percent from the field and 35.1 percent from beyond the arc.

A native of Merrillville, Indiana, Dixon prepped at Merrillville High School, where he averaged 17 points and 8 rebounds per game as a senior. He was named All-Conference and All-Area, and helped lead his team to a sectional title. He also ranks among the school's all-time leaders in field goal percentage at 60 percent.

Dixon joins the Wolverines with two years of athletic eligibility remaining.
