OREM—Utah Valley University head men's basketball coach
Todd Phillips has announced the signing of Sherman Weatherspoon IV, a dynamic 6-foot-3 guard from Frank Phillips College, for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
"We're excited to welcome Sherman to the Wolverine family," said Phillips. "He's a tremendous young man with high character. Sherman brings leadership and ball-handling, and his ability to stretch the floor and attack the basket will fill many roles for us. He's going to be a huge asset to our program."
Weatherspoon averaged 10.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while starting 32 of 34 contests during the 2024-25 season at Frank Phillips. He connected on 34.0 percent of his three-point attempts (68-of-200) and shot 77.8 percent at the free throw line.

He averaged 5.0 points and knocked down 32 triples, including a perfect 4-for-4 performance from beyond the arc at Murray State (2/24/24). His 13-point outing in just 15 minutes at Central Michigan (12/6/23) marked a season high.
A native of Bowie, Maryland, Weatherspoon played his senior high school season at Bethesda-Chevy Chase (Md.) after beginning his prep career at nationally ranked DeMatha Catholic. He also spent a year at Golden State Prep in California, where he averaged 25 points, eight rebounds, and four assists per game.
