OREM – Utah Valley University men's basketball head coach
Todd Phillips has announced the signing of Isaac Davis, a 6-foot-8 forward who spent last season at Utah State and prepped at Hillcrest High School in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
"Isaac is an outstanding big who brings both physicality and athleticism to the floor," said Phillips. "He's going to be a problem down low with his combination of size and quickness. He was part of a high-level program last year and is ready for his time to shine. We're excited to have him join our culture and contribute to our continued success."
Davis appeared in 18 games during his freshman season at Utah State, shooting an efficient 66.7 percent from the field (10-for-15) and 80.0 percent from the free throw line (16-of-20). He averaged 2.0 points and 1.3 rebounds in just under six minutes per contest and totaled 36 points, 23 rebounds, and four assists on the year.
A three-star recruit and the top prospect in the state of Idaho according to 247Sports.com, Davis enjoyed a decorated high school career at Hillcrest. He led the Knights to three consecutive Idaho Class 4A state championship game appearances, winning back-to-back titles as a sophomore and junior before finishing as runner-up as a senior.
As a senior, Davis averaged 16.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game while leading Hillcrest to a 19-7 record and a perfect 10-0 mark in conference play. In the 2024 state title game, he posted 23 points and 13 rebounds. The year prior, he led the team to a 25-1 record and a second straight 4A title, averaging 17.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game and earning top defensive player honors during the state tournament. Davis was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2022 state tournament after recording double-doubles of 18 points and 15 rebounds in the championship and 23 points and 15 rebounds in the semifinals.
He was named the Post Register All-Area Player of the Year in both his junior and senior seasons and earned all-state honors in all three years as a starter.
