OREM — Utah Valley University women's soccer makes the short trip to Provo on Friday night to face crosstown rival No. 12 BYU at South Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. MT, with the match broadcast live on ESPN+.
Utah Valley (3-2-1) enters on a two-match win streak after a 5-3 victory over Gonzaga on Monday and a 3-2 win over LSU last week.
Ruby Hladek recorded a brace and an assist against the Zags, with first-time tallies from
Jacey Wood and
Lulie MacFarlane and a fourth goal of the season from
Faith Webber. Earlier, Webber struck twice—including the 65th-minute winner—versus LSU. Webber (Offensive) and
Leah Wolf (Goalkeeper) earned WAC weekly honors for their performances, and UVU sits No. 6 in this week's United Soccer Coaches Pacific Region Top-10.
Through six matches, Hladek (5g, 4a) leads UVU in goals, assists, and points (14), while Webber has four goals and two assists and paces the team with 27 shots and two game-winners.
Nixan Jackson has added a goal and an assist. Goalkeeper
Leah Wolf has played every minute, totaling 33 saves with a 1.52 goals-against average and one shutout.
Scouting BYU
No. 12 BYU (4-1-1) closes a five-game homestand after a 2-0 win over Utah State, powered by freshman Mia Goettsche's first brace and goalkeeper Paiton Collins' third clean sheet. The Cougars average 17.0 shots per match and hold a sizable edge in shots on goal this season. Ellie Walbruch (3 goals; 1-for-2 on PKs) and Goettsche (3 goals, 2 game-winners) lead the attack, while Collins owns a 0.67 GAA and .810 save percentage.
Series History
BYU leads the all-time series 8–1–0. UVU's lone official win came in Provo on Sept. 10, 2022 (4–2). The teams last met officially on Sept. 2, 2023, with BYU winning 6–1 in Orem.
