ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Valley University's Nixan Jackson and Mia Owens have been named Jersey Mike's A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Players of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Jackson earned Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Owens was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Wolverines to a pair of dominant wins to open conference play.

Jackson, a junior forward from Mapleton, Utah, totaled eight points on the weekend with two goals and four assists in UVU's wins over Tarleton State and Abilene Christian. She had a brace and two assists in the 5-0 victory over Tarleton and then set up two more goals in a 5-1 win over ACU. Jackson recorded 15 shots with 10 on frame across the two matches and played a role in six of Utah Valley's 10 goals.

Owens, a junior defender from San Clemente, California, anchored Utah Valley's back line in both matches, starting and logging 144 total minutes. She helped limit Tarleton State and Abilene Christian to a combined six shots and just three on target, as the Wolverines outscored their opponents 10-1 and opened league play unbeaten at 2-0-0. Her steady defensive play and ability to organize the back line were key factors in UVU's control of both matches.

Utah Valley (6-4-1, 2-0-0 WAC) continues league play this week, hosting California Baptist on Friday night at UCCU Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. MT and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
