USAFA, Colo. — Utah Valley University won eight of 10 matches, including five bonus-point victories, in a 32-6 road win over Air Force on Friday night at Clune Arena. The Wolverines claimed the final seven bouts of the evening in the Big 12 Conference dual.

Geronimo Rivera, David Evans and Jack Forbes each recorded technical falls, while Ian Fritz and Caleb Uhlenhopp added major decisions. Fritz's victory came in his collegiate dual debut, and fellow freshman Zyon Trujillo earned an upset over No. 33 Logan Fowler. Hudson Rogers and Kael Bennie also picked up wins, with Bennie securing a ranked victory on a takedown with 10 seconds remaining.

"Outside of two matches where I believe we got snuck, our team showed out in a dominant win," UVU coach Adam Hall said after his team had a 23-4 edge in takedowns in the dual. "After our loss last week, our staff reinforced our standard of excellence with a tough week of training and expected to see a lot of points scored tonight against Air Force. We will demand the same effort on Sunday against Northern Colorado."

Air Force's Tucker Owens opened the dual with a 4-1 sudden-victory decision over No. 25 Bridger Ricks at 125 pounds, giving the Falcons (4-7, 0-6) a 3-0 lead. Owens secured the winning takedown in overtime.

Rivera responded at 133 pounds. After fighting off an early shot from Gavin Caprella, Rivera scored a takedown for a 3-0 lead. Following injury time, Rivera chose bottom, escaped and added another takedown to lead 7-0 after one period. He added an escape and a late takedown in the second, finishing with a 15-0 technical fall at 4:44.

At 141, Carter Nogle upset No. 15 Haiden Drury 5-4, using a riding-time point to give Air Force a brief 6-5 advantage before UVU's (4-7, 2-4) decisive run began.
Seventh-ranked Evans started the surge at 149 pounds with a 20-4 technical fall over Bryce Shelton in 6:23. Evans totaled six takedowns, including three in the third period to end the match early.

Fritz followed at 157 with a 14-3 major decision over Lincoln Gregersen. Two first-period takedowns gave him a 6-1 lead after one. He extended the margin to 9-3 entering the third and clinched bonus points with a fourth takedown and rideout.

At 165, Trujillo was tied 1-1 late against Fowler before finishing a scramble with seven seconds remaining to earn a 4-1 decision and extend the Wolverines' lead to 17-6.
Rogers posted a 5-0 decision over Aiden Robertson at 174 pounds. After a scoreless first period, Rogers recorded an escape and takedown in the second and did not allow a point, beginning back-to-back shutouts for UVU.

Uhlenhopp led Brian Burburija 4-0 before scoring a takedown and four-point near fall in the closing seconds of the second period to build an 11-0 advantage. He went on to win 12-0 at 184 pounds.

At 197, No. 29 Bennie edged No. 30 Karson Tompkins 5-4 in the only matchup between ranked wrestlers. Tompkins led 4-1 in the third period before a second stalling call cut the deficit to 4-2. Bennie finished a takedown with 10 seconds remaining to secure the victory.

Forbes closed the dual with a 17-2 technical fall over Antonio Ramos at 285 pounds, ending the match in 4:16. He built a 10-1 lead after the first period and added two more takedowns in the second to finish it.

Utah Valley travels to Greeley, Colorado, to face Northern Colorado on Sunday at 1 p.m. MST. The dual will stream on FloWrestling.
