Utah Valley outfielder Megan Sterzer has been named the D1Softball Mid-Major Freshman of the Week, the publication announced in a press release on Tuesday morning.

Sterzer, a native of Taylorsville, Utah, was one of the driving forces behind an offensive explosion for the Wolverines this past weekend in Las Vegas. In five games at the Rebel Classic, Sterzer went 8-for-13 with a home run, a double, eight RBIs, and four walks. In Thursday's win over Valpo, Sterzer hit her first collegiate homer — a grand slam — to cap off a six-run rally for Utah Valley. 

Sterzer was one of the main catalysts for the Wolverines as they posted historic offensive numbers across a 4-1 weekend. Utah Valley scored 49 runs in Vegas, the team's most in any five-game span against D-I opposition in program history.

Sterzer is the second Wolverine to earn a national weekly award, joining teammate Peyton Hall who earned National Freshman of the Week honors from D1Softball back in 2024.

Sterzer and Utah Valley return to action on Friday at the Beehive Classic in St. George, Utah. The Wolverines will face off against in-state rivals Utah State, Weber State, and Utah in the tournament hosted by Utah Tech.
