UVU Set for WNIT First-Round Matchup at San Francisco

OREM, Utah – Utah Valley women's basketball travels to the University of San Francisco for the first round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) on Thursday night. Tipoff from War Memorial at the Sobrato Center is set for 7 p.m. MT / 6 p.m. PT.

Thursday night's game against the Dons is set to air on ESPN+, with George Devine (play-by-play) and Sophia Jones (analyst) on the call in the Bay Area. Fans can also follow along with live stats at GoUVU.com/stats.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Utah Valley suffered a heartbreaking loss in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Air Force Reserve WAC Basketball Tournament. Tarleton State came back and erased a fourth-quarter deficit and took the lead on a corner 3-pointer in the final minute. Kaylee Headrick was one of three to finish in double figures with 17 points and added seven rebounds in the game. Amanda Barcello had 15 points, with Cambree Blackham scoring 10 points and adding seven assists.
 
The Wolverines scored 32 of their 57 points in the paint while scoring 22 points off 17 Texan turnovers.
 
SCOUTING THE DONS
San Francisco enters the game at 18-14 and finished 9-9 in the WCC. The Dons are 9-7 this season at home and are led by First Team All-WCC selection Candy Edokpaigbe, who averages 17.8 PPG while adding 4.7 rebounds per game. All-Freshman Team honoree Aina Cargol dishes out almost five assists per game and averages 9.7 PPG.
 
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST USF
Utah Valley will play San Francisco for the third time in program history. Each team has won on its home floor, with the Dons winning during the 2014-15 season, 69-50, and the Wolverines returning the favor the next season with an overtime 94-88 win.
 
UTAH VALLEY IN THE WNIT
The Wolverines are 1-1 all-time in the WNIT and will make their second appearance in the tournament. It is the first time they have had back-to-back postseason berths. UVU defeated Air Force in the first round of last season's tournament for the team's first postseason victory. They fell in the second round to Washington State in a 57-54 heartbreaker.
 
UP NEXT
The winner of Thursday's game is set to play against Montana State in the second round. The Bobcats were the Big Sky runner-up, entered the contest with a 25-7 record, and reached the conference tournament championship game. The game date and time will be announced following the UVU-San Francisco game on Thursday.
