Leonhardt, Holcombe Earn First Team All-WAC and All-Defensive Honors

3/10/2026 7:30:00 PM

ARLINGTON, Texas—Utah Valley redshirt junior guard Trevan Leonhardt and redshirt sophomore guard Jackson Holcombe have earned Western Athletic Conference All-Conference First Team honors and have both been named to the WAC All-Defensive Team, the league announced Tuesday as part of its 2025-26 postseason awards voted on by the conference's head coaches.

The duo becomes one of the most decorated backcourt tandems in the league this season after helping lead Utah Valley to the outright WAC regular-season championship and the No. 1 seed at the upcoming Air Force Reserve WAC Basketball Tournament in Las Vegas this week.

Leonhardt has been one of the most complete guards in the country this season, averaging 12.3 points, 6.1 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. He is the only player in the nation averaging at least 12 points, six assists, five rebounds and two steals per game this season. The redshirt junior also broke his own Utah Valley single-season assists record with 188 assists, surpassing the previous mark of 178 that he set last season.

Holcombe has been a dominant two-way presence for the Wolverines, averaging 15.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per game while shooting 54.1 percent from the field. The redshirt sophomore recently set a Utah Valley single-season record with 71 steals and ranks among the national leaders in steals per game. Holcombe leads Utah Valley in scoring and rebounding and has recorded multiple double-doubles this season.

Leonhardt and Holcombe headline Utah Valley's presence on the league's postseason honors list.

Dominique Daniels Jr. of California Baptist was named WAC Player of the Year, while Abilene Christian's Rich Smith earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. Southern Utah's Elijah Duval was named Freshman of the Year, Tarleton State's Dior Johnson earned Sixth Player of the Year, and Utah Tech head coach Jon Judkins was named WAC Coach of the Year.

Top-seeded Utah Valley will open play at the Air Force Reserve WAC Basketball Tournament on Friday night in the semifinal round at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The Wolverines will face the winner of No. 4 UT Arlington and No. 5 Southern Utah. Friday's semifinal is scheduled to tip at 6 p.m. PT/7 p.m. MT.

With a win, Utah Valley would advance to Saturday night's championship game as the Wolverines look to win the WAC Tournament for the first time in program history and secure the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
