OREM, Utah — Utah Valley women's basketball has announced the signing of Utah native and former Wyoming guard Maren McKenna. McKenna played one season for the Cowgirls after a standout career at Green Canyon High School.
 
"Adding Maren to our transfer portal class is a perfect way to finalize our roster," said UVU head coach Dan Nielson. "Her toughness and ability to score in multiple ways fit this group perfectly. She is a team-first player who will do whatever it takes to help us win. We always love bringing top Utah talent back home, and we know our fans will love watching her play."
 
McKenna played in 28 games during her freshman campaign at Wyoming, where she averaged more than 10 minutes per game with 3.8 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. She scored a career-high 15 points against Oklahoma State, finishing 4-for-5 from deep, and ended the season with 107 total points.
 
A standout at Green Canyon High School, she was a three-time all-state player for the Wolves and led them to a state semifinal appearance in 2023, averaging 16.4 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. She finished her high school career with more than 1,000 points. When not on the court, she excelled in track and field, winning two state javelin titles.
