Utah Valley plays its final non-conference game of the 2026 regular season on Tuesday when the Wolverines make the short trip north to Salt Lake City to face the Utah Utes at Dumke Family Softball Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. MDT, and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+. Live stats will be available at GoUVU.com/stats.
QUICK HITTERS
Utah Valley closed out the home season with a 10-4 win over Utah State last Tuesday, securing a three-game season sweep over the Aggies. It's the team's first season sweep of multiple games over USU in program history.
With the win over USU, UVU secured its 9th win over in-state competition, the team's most in a single season, surpassing 2024 when the team went 8-3. Utah Valley has scored at least four runs in each of its wins so far this season, good for a 26-6 record when reaching that threshold. The Wolverines have not scored four runs in a game against the Utes since their last win in the series back in 2019 (5-2).
With her next RBI, Tatum Hall will have the most by a Wolverine left-handed batter in a single season, surpassing Heidi Stocks (2008) and Kalena Shepherd (2022), who each had 45. Hall is also within striking distance of the team's overall record of 52, set by Brittney Vansway in 2017.Â
Over the last two-plus weeks, Hannah Ortega has been the Wolverines' top arm, posting a 1.50 ERA across six appearances and 14 IP. Ortega got the win against USU and earned the victory in UVU's 8-7 comeback win over ACU on April 11, tossing 2.1 perfect innings of relief.
SERIES HISTORY VS UTAH
The Wolverines and Utes meet for the 36th time on Tuesday. Utah leads the all-time series 31-4 and have won the last five meetings. Utah blanked the Wolverines in St. George back on March 1, 7-0. The Utes got six of their seven runs on homers. UVU and Utah played at least once every year from 2004-2014, but have only played six times since.
UVU head coach Cody Thomson was on Amy Hogue's staff for 17 seasons at Utah from 2005-2021, including the 2017 season when the Utes' were named the region's coaching staff of the year by the NFCA. This will be the fourth time Thomson has faced Utah as UVU head coach.
Utah Valley is 6-17 all-time versus teams currently in the Big 12, with three of those wins coming against BYU in each of the last three seasons. The Wolverines' last true road win over a P4 school other than BYU was their win over Utah in 2019.
BROWN RETURNS TO HER OLD STOMPING GROUNDS
Former Utah Softball star Haley Brown returns to Dumke Family Softball Stadium for the first time as an opposing coach on Tuesday. Brown is Utah's all-time leader in hits, runs scored, at-bats, and career batting average, and helped lead the Utes to the 2023 Women's College World Series.
WINNING RECORD SECURED
With Utah Valley's win over Utah State, the Wolverines have officially secured their first full-season winning record since 2013, the team's first as members of the WAC, and just the fourth overall since the team began its transition to D-I in 2004. UVU's 26 wins to date are also the team's most since 2013, and are the fourth-most in the D-I era.
SEE Y'ALL IN STEPHENVILLE
By virtue of other results around the WAC, Utah Valley secured its spot in the WAC Tournament last weekend. The Wolverines will be either the four or five seed in the six-team double-elimination tournament, depending on who wins this weekend's series at SUU.
UP NEXT
Utah Valley will wrap up the regular season with the final WAC series of the year at SUU. The Wolverines and T-Birds will play a doubleheader on Friday starting at 1 p.m. MT, then wrap up the series on Saturday at noon. All three games are slated to be broadcast on ESPN+, with live stats at GoUVU.com/stats.
