OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University assistant coach
Ed Scott is set to compete this week at the 2026 Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament at Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
The trials will begin on Thursday, May 14 at 10 a.m. EDT with the preliminary rounds, quarterfinals, and consolation rounds in the first session. Thursday's afternoon session begins at 4 p.m. EDT with the semifinals and consolation rounds and the finals and third-place matches will be on Friday at noon EDT.
On the line for Scott, who is representing the Brunson Utah Valley Regional Training Center, and the rest of the field are spots at Final X for the winners in a bid to make the U.S. Senior World Team. Final X will take place on June 19 in Newark, New Jersey.
Scott, who just completed his first season on
Adam Hall's staff in Orem, is competing at 70kg in a bracket that includes 2024 Olympian and three-time NCAA Champion Zain Retherford, 2026 NCAA Champion (157 pounds) Landon Robideau, and 2026 NCAA runner-up Caleb Henson (149 pounds). The pre-seeds were announced on Wednesday afternoon and Scott is the No. 6 seed at 70kg.
A 2023 All-American at North Carolina State, Scott placed seventh at the U.S. Senior Open last month in Las Vegas to earn a berth at the World Team Trials.
