UVU Soccer Announces Uniform Patch Partner with The Policy Project

6/4/2026 10:11:00 AM

OREM—Utah Valley University Athletics has announced a new partnership with The Policy Project, naming the Utah-based nonprofit organization the official uniform patch partner for Utah Valley men's and women's soccer beginning with the 2026-27 athletic season.

The partnership comes as the NCAA officially begins allowing Division I programs to feature sponsorship patches on uniforms beginning Aug. 1, opening a new avenue for athletic departments across the country to partner and collaborate through jersey sponsorships.

While many programs are expected to use the new opportunity as a traditional advertising platform, Utah Valley sought a partnership centered on purpose, impact, and shared values.

"We felt strongly that if Utah Valley was going to place sponsorship on our uniforms, it needed to represent something meaningful," said Utah Valley Director of Athletics Dr. Jared Sumsion. "This wasn't simply about selling space on a jersey. We wanted a partner that reflects the values of our university and the type of impact we want to have throughout our communities. The Policy Project is doing important work throughout Utah and the Intermountain region. This is a partnership we are proud to represent."

The Policy Project is a Utah-based nonprofit organization focused on creating policy solutions that promote opportunity, dignity, and improved outcomes for children and families. Since 2019, the organization has helped lead statewide initiatives addressing issues such as access to period products in schools, child sexual abuse prevention education, student hunger, focused classrooms, family affordability, and teen resource centers.

The Policy Project's work has helped expand access to period products in more than 1,500 bathrooms in schools and public buildings across Utah, supported funding for 72 teen resource centers statewide, increased access to no-cost school meals for thousands of students, and expanded child sexual abuse prevention education across Utah schools.

"We are honored to partner with Utah Valley Athletics, and even more honored by why they chose us," said Emily Bell McCormick, President of The Policy Project. "They weren't just looking for a logo. They were looking for meaning. When student-athletes take the field this fall wearing The Policy Project's name, they'll be carrying with them the stories of kids who got lunch at school when they were hungry, girls who made it to practice because period products were in the locker rooms, and teenagers who found support in a resource center. That's what this jersey patch represents: a better Utah for children and families. And we're excited to invite these student-athletes into that work alongside us."

The Policy Project patch will appear on Utah Valley men's and women's soccer uniforms beginning during the 2026-27 season and will be featured throughout a variety of department and community initiatives during the year.

As part of the partnership, Utah Valley Athletics and The Policy Project will also collaborate on community engagement initiatives, educational programming, service projects, and awareness events throughout the year, including a planned "The Policy Project Night" during the Utah Valley women's soccer season at UCCU Stadium.

Utah Valley student-athletes will additionally have opportunities to engage in service initiatives and educational experiences connected to advocacy, leadership, and community impact.

"This partnership goes beyond athletics," said Sumsion. "It's about using the visibility of sports to elevate causes that matter and create opportunities to positively impact lives throughout our communities."

The Policy Project patch will officially make its official on-field debut during the 2026 season openers for both soccer programs at UCCU Stadium, beginning with the Utah Valley women hosting Big Ten foe Michigan on Aug. 13 and the men opening the season against Pacific on Aug. 20.

Season tickets for Utah Valley soccer will be available beginning July 1 at GoUVU.com/Tickets.
