Utah Valley heads to Spokane for Kalispel Invitational

OREM—Fresh off a team championship at the Wolverine Invitational, Utah Valley women's golf returns to action Monday and Tuesday at the Kalispel Invitational at Kalispel Golf and Country Club in Spokane, Washington.

The Wolverines will play 36 holes Monday before wrapping up the 54-hole event with the final round Tuesday.

UPCOMING
Utah Valley will compete in a 14-team field that includes Boise State, Cal State Bakersfield, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, Idaho, Murray State, Portland State, Sacramento State, San Francisco, UC Riverside, Utah Tech and host Eastern Washington.

The tournament will begin Monday, Sept. 21, with an 8:30 a.m. PT shotgun start. The final round will also begin with an 8:30 a.m. PT shotgun start on Tuesday, Sept. 22.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The Kalispel Invitational will feature 54 holes over two days. Teams will play 36 holes Monday before returning Tuesday for the final 18 holes. Both days will begin with an 8:30 a.m. PT shotgun start.

COURSE INFORMATION
The Kalispel Invitational will be played at Kalispel Golf and Country Club in Spokane, Washington. The par-72 layout will play at 6,037 yards for the tournament.

Kalispel Golf and Country Club has more than 100 years of history and was the site of the inaugural U.S. Women's Open in 1946, won by World Golf Hall of Famer Patty Berg.

The course has also hosted some of the biggest names in golf, including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino and Tom Watson. Watson holds the course record at 11-under par.

Kalispel is known for its Pacific Northwest setting, featuring natural landscaping and views of Rattlesnake Ridge and the Little Spokane River. The course has also been recognized by Golfweek among the nation's Top 50 casino golf courses.

TEAM UVU
Utah Valley's five-player lineup will feature Sydney Richards, Mia Pace, Adley Nelson, Maria Ortiz and Rachel Lillywhite.

Kaylee Westfall will also compete in the tournament as an individual.

Richards will play from hole No. 9A in Monday's shotgun start, followed by Pace on No. 10, Nelson on No. 11, Ortiz on No. 12 and Lillywhite on No. 13. Westfall will begin her round on No. 14.

LAST TIME OUT
Utah Valley enters the Kalispel Invitational coming off a championship at the Wolverine Invitational at TalonsCove Golf Club.

The Wolverines fired a final-round 1-under-par 287 to rally past Wyoming and finish the 54-hole tournament at 11-over-par 875 (290-298-287), earning the fifth team title in program history and their first-ever Wolverine Invitational championship.

UVU entered the final round six shots behind Wyoming before making up eight strokes to win the title by two shots. The championship was Utah Valley's second under head coach Juli Erekson and its first since winning the Utah Tech Trailblazer Invitational in February 2024.

Sydney Richards led the Wolverines individually, finishing sixth on the 66-player leaderboard at even-par 216 (71-73-72). Richards carded an even-par 72 in the final round, which included an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole.

Mia Pace finished tied for seventh at 1-over-par 217 (71-73-73), while Adley Nelson moved up five spots during the final round after firing a 2-under-par 70 to finish tied for ninth at 3-over-par 219 (72-77-70).

Maria Ortiz tied for 30th at 10-over-par 226 (76-75-75), while Rachel Lillywhite tied for 34th at 11-over-par 227 (77-78-72). Westfall, competing as an individual, tied for 37th at 12-over-par 228 (79-72-77).
