SOPHOMORE (2020-21): Did not compete in any cross country meets during the COVID-shortened 2020-21 campaign.

REDSHIRT (2019): Redshirted the 2019 cross country season for the Wolverines.

FRESHMAN (2016): Named WAC Freshman of the Year after finishing sixth (25:26.4) at the 2016 WAC Championships in the 8K… recorded 172nd-place finish (25:46.3) in the 8K at the Indiana State Pre-National Invitational… placed 26th (25:23.4) in program’s first-ever victory at the Notre Dame Invitational in the five-mile Gold Race… Clocked a time of 25:16.5 in the 8K at the UC Riverside Invitational for a 24th-place finish… finished 109th at NCAA Mountain Regionals (35:29) in the 10K… placed 26th (22:10.83; 7K) in UVU debut at the Utah State Sagebrush Invitational.

Before Utah Valley…
Participated in cross country and track and field at Highland High School (Ariz.)… ranked eighth in the nation in the 1600m as a high school senior with a personal record of 4:07... helped squad finish as Golden League champions… also posted a personal best in the 800m with a time of 1:54 during his final year at Highland.
 
Personal…
Son of Jeff and Jennie Smith… his father competed in track in field at Utah Valley in the school’s junior college era… majoring in English education ... served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fort Worth, Texas (2017-19).
