Carter Johnson enters his first season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with the Utah Valley women's soccer program in 2026.
Johnson returns to Orem after a standout collegiate and professional playing career. As assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, he oversees the Wolverines' recruiting efforts while directing film analysis and scouting and assisting with all aspects of player development and on-field coaching.
A native of Sandy, Utah, Johnson was one of the state's most decorated prep players at Herriman High School, earning Gatorade Utah Player of the Year and Utah Mr. Soccer honors in 2018 after leading the Mustangs to the Class 6A state championship match.
Johnson spent four seasons at Utah Valley (2018, Spring 2021, 2021, 2022), appearing in 58 career matches with 49 starts. He recorded four goals and six assists during his Wolverine career, including a three-goal, two-assist campaign in 2021. He was a two-time Academic All-WAC selection and earned Academic All-District honors as a senior in 2022.
Following his time at Utah Valley, Johnson transferred to the University of Vermont, where he earned all-region and all-conference honors while helping the Catamounts compete among the nation's top programs.
Johnson also played professionally with Real Monarchs, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, and Rhode Island FC. In addition to his professional career, he has trained players of all ages through private coaching since 2018, helping develop technical skills, tactical awareness, and confidence on the field.
