LOGAN, Utah – Utah Valley State fell in straight sets, 30-24, 30-20, 30-19, to Utah State University on Tuesday night in the Spectrum.
The Wolverines struggled offensively hitting .009 to USU's .240.
Jenny Weed and
Lacee Koelliker led the Wolverine attack with seven kills apiece. Mari Ruddick led the Aggies with a match-high 12 kills.
"We were playing some good ball but then things just went bad. We started making too many errors," said UVSC coach
Sam Atoa.
Atoa was referring to the opening set when the two teams were tied 15-15. It was at this point that UVSC's play "turned south" according to Atoa.
Utah State wasn't doing anything particularly effective defensively. Atoa said his girls just started committing hitting errors, bad passes, etc.
Atoa did praise Koelliker following the match. "Lacee brings it every game. She comes to play every game and leaves everything she has on the floor."
UVSC dropped to 5-10 on the year while Utah State improved to 13-7.
