"What a great season for him," said Williams. "The thing that's so special about Sam is that as much time as he puts in being a leader and captain on this team, he still has done really really well in the classroom."
Kearsley followed Allen with an 11-3 major decision over Steven Dailey. After falling behind 3-2 after two periods, Kearsley tied it on an escape with 1:39 left in the match and quickly took the lead on a takedown. "Nate's a kid who gives 100%, who does everything we ask," said Williams. "I'm really pleased with him and real proud of how far he's come. He's someone that just understands work ethic."
After Brady Garner got Portland State on the board with a pin at 165, Fenwick delivered the most dominating performance of the night. Fenwick built a 12-4 lead after one period on the strength of five takedowns and a nearfall and capped it with a takedown to win 22-7.
"Marc Fenwick is a special individual," said Williams of one of his captains. "He's done more with the talent he has than anyone I've ever coached. His goal this year was to finish with a winning record and he did that."
Fenwick's win on Monday gave him him a final record of 19-13, which also included a 4-1 mark in Western Wrestling Conferene action.
