GENEVA, Ohio — Three Utah Valley University wrestlers are into the quarterfinals at the U23 Freestyle Nationals with a total of four Wolverines still in action. 12 UVU wrestlers entered the event, representing the Brunson Utah Valley Regional Training Center.

Layne Kleimann and Geronimo Rivera, both in the 61kg bracket, each went 3-0 with all three wins via technical fall and will now face each other in one of four quarterfinal bouts. Smokey McClure went 4-0 on Saturday and also wrestle in the quarters, where he'll face Oregon State wrestler Noah Tolentino.

Neither Kleimann nor Rivera have surrendered a point so far in the tournament. Kleimann won his matches by scores of 10-0 (twice) and 11-0. Rivera won his first two matches by scores of 11-0 and his round of 16 bout against Chattanooga's Ethan Lipsey finished 10-0. All three Rivera matches lasted less than one minute.

After winning his first match by tech fall, Kael Bennie (92kg) dropped his second match against Iowa's Harvey Ludington but responded with five consecutive wins to advance to the consolation quarterfinals. Bennie went 6-1 overall on the day, with a pair of tech falls including an 11-0 win over West Virginia's Coen Grimm.

Talen Eck (57g) and Ian Fritz (70kg) both went 3-2 overall. Eck had a trio of tech falls while Fritz notched a pair of technical falls. Josh Fish (70kg), Jason Worthley (70kg), and Zyon Trujillo (74kg) each won two matches while Trevor Frank (79kg) and Chandler Thompson (86kg) each picked up one victory.

Sunday's final session begins at 10 a.m. ET and will air on FloWrestling with USABracketing.com hosting the brackets and results.
