RENO, Nevada - Nevada jumped to a big early lead and won 11-3 over Utah Valley in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday. The win gave the Wolf Pack (20-14) a sweep of the doubleheader after a 3-1 win over the Wolverines (7-23-1) earlier in the day.

Nevada has now won the first three games of the series and will go for a four-game sweep on Sunday at 2pm MT. The Wolverines will go with their ace, Marcus Moore, while the Wolf Pack will start Brock Stassi.

One run in the first, three in the second and five in the third catapulted Nevada to a commanding 9-1 lead after three innings. Catcher Travis Simas delivered the big blow in the third on a bases loaded triple to right-center to drive in three runs. Simas drove in four runs and scored three times in the game.

Ryan Jones went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in while Jake Rickenbach drove in the third run of the game for the Wolverines.

Jason Sadoian was a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI for the Wolf Pack, who improved to 18-6 at home in Peccole Park this season.

Bryan Smith threw three and 2/3 innings of solid relief, allowing one run on three hits while striking out six.

In the first game, Utah Valley was on the wrong end of a pitcher's duel as Nevada won 3-1 in a game that lasted just one hour and 53 minutes.

Aaron Brady (2-3) threw his second complete game and the third in a row for the Wolverines but Kyle Howe (5-0) was impressive after allowing just one run on seven hits in a 78-pitch performance for the Wolf Pack.

Brady allowed three runs, two of which came on solo home runs by Tyson Jaquez and Terry Walsh, on six hits while Howe gave up seven hits.

Jace Brinkerhoff was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Scott Croshaw also had two hits and the lone RBI for the Wolverines.

With the 3-0 series advantage, Nevada now holds an 8-1 all-time advantage over Utah Valley.
