Orem, Utah--The Utah Valley University women's soccer team hits the road to take on Western Athletic Conference foes Bakersfield and Grand Canyon this week. The Wolverines will play at Bakersfield on Friday before heading to play Grand Canyon on Sunday.
The Wolverines are 5-4-2 on the season. After dropping its first two matches of the year on the road, the Wolverines went 5-0-2 at home with wins over Baylor, Wyoming, Southern Utah, UTEP, and UNLV. UVU still seeks its first road victory of the season as the team opened WAC play last week with a 2-1 loss at Seattle U.

Kali Stubbs leads the team with four goals. She also has two assists and is the team leader in points with 10. Stubbs also fronts the team with 21 shots (seven on goal). Junior keeper
Jessica Duffin is the WAC leader with four shutouts. She holds a 0.95 goals against average as she has allowed only 11 goals this year.
TEAM MAKES HISTORY WITH NSCAA WEST POLL APPEARANCEUtah Valley was ranked No. 6 in the Sept. 16 version of the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Women's West Division Poll, marking the first time in team history that the program has been ranked. The Wolverines were then ranked No. 10 in the the poll the following week (Sept. 23). UVU dropped out of the poll this past week.
SPREADING THE WEALTHNine different Utah Valley players have registered a goal this season and nine different players have recorded an assist this year. Fifteen Wolverines have tallied at least one point this season.
HOME SWEET HOMEThe Wolverines are 5-0-2 at home this season in the friendly confines of Clyde Field. UVU now holds an all-time record of 49-29-8 on the home pitch. Utah Valley wrapped up a seven game home stand on Sept. 19 with a tie against UC Riverside. UVU returns home on Oct. 10 to host Bakersfield.

Jessica Duffin leads the WAC with four shutouts this season. She ranks second in the WAC with a goals against average of 0.95 and second in shutouts per game at 0.36. Junior forward
Kali Stubbs is tied for the conference lead with two game-winning goals. As a team, UVU leads the league with 136 fouls this season.
RPIAs of Sept. 29, Utah Valley is ranked No. 87 in the NCAA's RPI rankings. The Wolverines are a spot ahead of Marquette at No. 88 and rank just behind Holyk Cross at No. 86. Utah Valley holds the top RPI in the WAC at No. 87, ahead of Seattle U at No. 112 and Missouri-Kansas City at No. 164.
ABOUT THE OPPOSITIONBakersfield holds a 1-8-1 overall record this season. The 'Runners open WAC play against the Wolverines Friday because CSUB's origional WAC opener at Grand Cayon was postponed due to a power outage last week. Bakersfield went 0-7-1 before picking up its first win at Florida Atlantic on Sept. 19. The team dropped a 3-0 decision at Florida Gulf Coast in its last match on Sept. 21. The 'Runners game against UVU on Friday will be its first home match since hosting Northern Iowa on Sept. 5. Five different players have scored one goal this season for the 'Runners.
The 'Lopes are 1-6-1 this season. The team's lone victory was a 2-1 victory over former WAC foe Idaho on Sept. 19. GCU dropped a 1-0 decision to Lipsomb at home in its last played match. The 'Lopes game against CSUB last week was postponed due to a power failure. Maria Monterroso has scored five of GCU's seven goals this year.
HOME CROWD ADVANTAGEThe Wolverines rank 24th in the national in accumulated attendance this season. Through seven home games this year, Utah Valley has enjoyed 6,298 fans, an average of 900 a game. The results have had an impact as the Wolverines are unbeaten at 5-0-2 at Clyde Field this season.
