Wolverines Host Bakersfield and Grand Canyon

OREM, Utah--The Utah Valley University women's soccer team returns home to take on Western Athletic Conference foes Bakersfield and Grand Canyon this week. The Wolverines will host Bakersfield on Friday before welcoming Grand Canyon on Sunday.

Utah Valley is 7-4-2 overall and 2-1-0 in WAC play. After opening league play with a road loss at Seattle U, Utah Valley bounced back to pick up a pair of conference road wins at Bakersfield and Grand Canyon last week. UVU now returns home to Clyde Field, where it owns an unbeaten 5-0-2 record.

Junior forward Kali Stubbs leads the team with four goals. She also has three assists and is the team leader in points with 11. Stubbs also fronts the team with 21 shots (seven on goal). Junior keeper Jessica Duffin is the WAC leader with five shutouts. She holds a 0.89 goals against average as she has allowed only 12 goals this year.

HOME CROWD ADVANTAGE
The Wolverines rank No. 27 in the national in accumulated attendance this season. Through seven home games this year, Utah Valley has enjoyed 6,298 fans, an average of 900 a game. The results have had an impact, as the Wolverines are an unbeaten 5-0-2 at Clyde Field this season. UVU holds an all-time record of 49-29-8 on the home pitch. The Wolverines will play six of their final seven matches at home.

LEADING THE WAC
Junior goalkeeper Jessica Duffin leads the WAC with five shutouts. She ranks second in the WAC with a goals against average of 0.89 and second in shutouts per game at 0.38. Junior forward Kali Stubbs is tied for second in the WAC with two game-winning goals. As a team, UVU leads the league with 165 fouls this season.

WOLVERINES BACK IN NSCAA WEST DIVISION TOP-10 POLL
Utah Valley was ranked No. 6 in the Sept. 16 version of the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Women's West Division Poll, marking the first time in team history that the program has been ranked. The Wolverines dropped out of the poll last week but are now back in after a pair of road wins last week over Bakersfield and Grand Canyon. Utah Valley currently ranks No. 10 in the latest poll that was released on Oct. 7. WAC foe Seattle U is ranked No. 8 in the poll.

TOP RPI IN WAC
As of Oct. 6, Utah Valley is ranked No. 108 in the NCAA's RPI rankings falling from No. 87 last week despite a pair of wins. The Wolverines are a spot ahead of St. Johns at No. 109 and rank just behind Montana at No. 107. Utah Valley holds the top RPI in the WAC at No. 108, ahead of Seattle U at No. 116 and Missouri-Kansas City at No. 131.

SPREADING THE WEALTH
Eleven different Utah Valley players have registered a goal this season and 10 different players have recorded an assist this year. Fifteen Wolverines have tallied at least one point this season.

ABOUT THIS WEEK'S OPPOSITION
Bakersfield holds a 1-10-1 overall record and the team is 0-2-0 in WAC play. Utah Valley defeated Bakersfield 2-1 last week in Bakersfield. The Roadrunners also dropped a 6-3 decision at home against Seattle U despite Hedda Regefalk's hat trick against the Redhawks. Regefalk leads CSUB with five goals this season, four of which came last week.

The 'Lopes are 1-8-1 overall this season and are 0-2-0 in WAC play. The team's lone victory this season was a 2-1 victory over former WAC foe Idaho on Sept. 19. GCU opened WAC play last week with a pair of losses. The 'Lopes fell 2-1 at home against Seattle U and 2-0 to Utah Valley. Maria Monterroso has scored five of GCU's eight goals this season.
