Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Utah Valley falls on the road at Montana State, 68-60

BOZEMAN, Mont.—The Utah Valley University men's basketball team dropped a 68-60 decision at Montana State Saturday night in a game that included six ties and 13 lead changes.  The game marked the sixth of seven straight road games for the Wolverines, who will continue road play at No. 3 Arizona Tuesday night.

Tied 51-51 with 6:23 to play, Montana went on a 9-1 run over the next three minutes to take a 60-52 lead with 3:21 remaining. Utah Valley (3-4) could not recover as Montana State (3-5) knocked down its free throws over the final three minutes to secure the victory.

"I thought Montana State sustained their effort for a longer period than we did tonight," said Utah Valley head coach Dick Hunsaker. "I thought they were a bit more tenacious as evidenced by 13 offensive rebounds. I give a lot of credit to them for our lack of efficiency in key moments."

Junior guard Marcel Davis led Utah Valley with a season-high 17 points. Davis hit 6-of-10 shots from the field, including a 5-of-8 clip from the free throw line. He also pulled down six rebounds, dished out three assists and recorded a steal.

Senior forward Brenden Evans also reached double figures with 10 points. Evans knocked down 4-of-8 shots from the field.  Senior forward Mitch Bruneel nearly tallied a double-double with nine rebounds and eight points.

The Wolverines shot 45.1 percent from the field while the Bobcats hit 45.3 percent of their shots. Utah Valley scored 36 points in the paint compared to MSU's 20. The Wolverines went 2-for-12 from three-point range while the Bobcats hit 6-of-18 shots from beyond the arc.

Marcus Colbert led Montana State with a game-high 20 points to lead three other Bobcats in double figure scoring.

Utah Valley wraps up its stretch of seven-straight road games at No. 3 Arizona Tuesday night at the McKale Center in Tucson. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. MT.
