UVU Women Travel to Play Seattle U on Sunday

OREM, Utah-The Utah Valley University women's soccer team will open its 2014 conference slate at Seattle U on Sunday, Sept. 28. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. PT. After playing seven straight home games, UVU is now in the middle of a four-game road slate.

Utah Valley holds a 5-3-2 record this season. After dropping its first two matches of the year on the road, Utah Valley went 5-0-2 at home with wins over Baylor, Wyoming, Southern Utah, UTEP, and UNLV. UVU dropped a 4-0 decision at in-state rival Utah on Sunday, marking the first of four-straight road games for the Wolverines.

WOLVERINES RANKED NO.10 IN NSCAA WEST POLL
Utah Valley is ranked in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Women's West Division Poll. The Wolverines are ranked No. 10 in the top-10 poll. Just ahead of UVU in the poll is UC Santa Barbara at No. 9 and San Francisco at No. 8. The Wolverines are the only team in the WAC to be represented in the poll.

SPREADING THE WEALTH
Eight different Utah Valley players have registered a goal this season and eight different players have recorded an assist this year. Thirteen Wolverines have tallied at least one point this season.

HOME SWEET HOME
The Wolverines are 5-0-2 at home this season in the friendly confines of Clyde Field. UVU now holds an all-time record of 49-29-8 on the home pitch. Utah Valley wrapped up a seven game home stand on Friday with a tie against UC Riverside. UVU returns home on Oct. 10 to host Bakersfield.

LEADING THE WAC
Junior goalkeeper Jessica Duffin leads the WAC with four shutouts this season. She ranks second in the WAC with a goals against average of 0.85 and second in shutouts per game at 0.40. Junior forward Kali Stubbs is tied for the conference lead with two game-winning goals.

RPI
The NCAA released its first RPI rankings of the season on Monday and Utah Valley is ranked No. 70. The Wolverines are a spot ahead of Long Beach State at No. 71 and rank just behind Louisville at No. 69. Utah Valley holds the top RPI in the WAC at No. 70, ahead of Missouri-Kansas City at No. 146 and Seattle U at No. 178.

ABOUT SEATTLE U
Seattle U is the WAC's defending regular season and tournament champion. The Redhawks were picked by the coaches to win the WAC again this season. The team holds a 4-3-0 overall record this and has won two of its last three matches. Seattle U will take on Portland on Thursday before hosting the Wolverines on Sunday.

The Redhawks dropped a 1-0 decision at home against cross-town rival Washington last Friday. Senior forward Stephanie Verdoia, a Utah native, leads the team and the WAC with seven goals this year. She also leads the league in points with 15.

HOME CROWD ADVANTAGE
The Wolverines rank 18th in the national in accumulated attendance this season. Through seven home games this year, Utah Valley has enjoyed 6,298 fans, an average of nearly 900 a game. The results have had an impact as the Wolverines are unbeaten with a 5-0-2 record at Clyde Field this season.
