UTAH VALLEY TRAVELS TO PLAY SEATTLE U FOR WAC TITLEThe Utah Valley University women's soccer team wraps up regular season play at Seattle U on Saturday with the WAC championship on the line. The Wolverines can claim the regular season title with a victory on Saturday, while the Redhawks earn the championship with a tie or a win.
Utah Valley (12-5-1, 7-1-1) currently sits in second place in the WAC standings with 22 points, just one point behind Seattle U (23). The Wolverines have already clinched one of the two byes in the first round of the upcoming WAC Tournament in Bakersfield.
In their first matchup of the season, the Wolverines tied the Redhawks 1-1 at Clyde Field in Orem on Sept. 26.
Sara Callister scored in the 63rd minute to give UVU a 1-0 advantage, but Seattle U's Karli White responed with the equalizer in the 71st minute to secure the double-overtime tie.
Eleven different Wolverines have registered a goal this season. Junior forward
Sheridan Fox continues to lead the Wolverines in scoring with eight goals, which ranks her tied for fourth in the WAC. Senior midfielder
Kasandra Anderson leads the team and ranks second in the conference with eight assists. Anderson leads the team with 20 points.
Jessica Duffin leads the defensive effort in goal this season. The senior keeper has recorded six shutouts this season and has collected 58 saves.
Utah Valley leads the WAC in numerous statistical categories, including goals (43), assists (42) and points (128). The team ranks eighth nationally in all three categories.
Following Saturday's contest with Seattle U, Utah Valley will begin to prepare for the WAC Tournament in Bakersfield, Calif. The Wolverines will begin tournament play on Friday, Nov. 5.
ABOUT THE OPPOSITIONSeattle U (12-2-3, 7-0-2) enters Saturday's match with a one-point advantage over Utah Valley for the top spot in the WAC standings. The Redhawks, who seek their third-straight WAC title, went 2-0-0 on the road last week with wins over CSU Bakersfield (2-0) and Grand Canyon (4-0). Senior forward Julia Moravec leads the team in goals (9), assists (10) and points (28). 12 different Redhawks have registered at least one goal this season. SU has not lost a match since dropping a 3-0 decision at Washington on Aug. 28.

UVU RANKS 20TH NATIONALLY IN ATTENDANCEThe Utah Valley women's soccer team ranks 20th in the nation in accumulative attendance for the season. The Wolverines have welcomed 10,739 fans through the Clyde Field gates this season, putting them ahead of 313 teams nationally. UVU ranks 20th ahead of West Virginia (21), Washington State (22), Georgia (23), Stanford (24) and Cal Poly (25).
ANDERSON JUST TWO WINS AWAY FROM 100Utah Valley head coach
Brent Anderson is just two wins away from hitting the century mark. The 10th-year head coach currently holds a 98-91-11 career record. Anderson holds an impressive 58-14-3 conference mark in his 10 years at UVU, and is 21-8-2 in conference play since joining the WAC.
HOME SWEET CLYDE FIELDUtah Valley wrapped up its home slate this season with a 9-0-1 unbeaten record. It is just the second-ever unbeaten season at home for the Wolverines, with the previous undefeated season being a 3-0-0 mark in 2003.
DUFFIN BREAKS CAREER SHUTOUT RECORDJessica Duffin became Utah Valley's all-time shutout leader as she recorded her 12th clean sheet of her career in a 1-0 win over Portland State on Sept. 20. Duffin passed Lauren Sack (2009-13), who had 11 shutouts in her career. Duffin now has 15 career shutouts and counting.
UP NEXTThe Wolverines head to the WAC Tournament in Bakersfield, Calif. Utah Valley will have a first-round bye at the tournament and will play its first contest of the championship on Friday, Nov. 6.
