UTAH VALLEY SET TO FACE BYU IN NCAA FIRST ROUND
The Utah Valley University women's soccer team will make the short trip down University Parkway to take on BYU in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday at South Field. UVU makes its first-ever appearance at the NCAA Championship after defeating Seattle U in the WAC Tournament championship match to earn the league's automatic bid. Saturday's match will kick-off at 1 p.m. MST.

"This is something we've set goals for and worked towards for a number of years and to see it actually come to fruition is very rewarding," said Utah Valley head coach Brent Anderson. "It's definitely humbling

Utah Valley (14-6-1) heads into Saturday's contest having won nine of its last 11 matches. The Wolverines picked up a pair of shutout victories at last week's WAC Tournament in Bakersfield, Calif. UVU defeated Missouri-Kansas City 2-0 in the semifinal match before taking down Seattle U 2-0 in the championship.

BYU holds an all-time 1-0-0 series lead. The two teams last met on Sept. 27, 2012 with the Cougars taking a 1-0 victory at South Field. The 13th-ranked Cougars (15-2-2) host a first round NCAA tournament game for the third time in four years. BYU won its fourth-straight West Coast Conference title this season as the team wrapped up league play with a 7-2-1 record.

"We're familiar with their program and the quality of their team," said Anderson "We're familiar with their players. Our girls have played with them and against them most of their lives and so to go over and play a familiar foe is exciting. It's great that we get to play here in the Valley where we can get a lot of good fan support. We're ready to play and excited to go play this match."

Kirk scored the unassisted game winner in the 19th minute after she stole the ball from a Seattle U defender, dribbled into the box, and fired a shot into the back of the net.
