OREM, Utah – After playing its first 27 games away from Orem, the Utah Valley University softball team will welcome in-state foe Weber State to town on Wednesday and Oklahoma State of the Big 12 Conference on Thursday for its 2015 home openers.

UVU will play two games against each team as the Wolverines and Wildcats will begin a doubleheader at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Wolverine Field while UVU and OSU will start a twin bill at 1 p.m. on Thursday. Thursday's contests versus the Cowgirls will mark the first time in program history that UVU will host an opponent from the Big 12.

As well as hosting both Weber State and Oklahoma State this week, Utah Valley will also make the short trek to Provo on Saturday afternoon to face BYU at 3:30 p.m. at Gail Miller Field. The contest versus the Cougars will be the first of three meetings between the cross-town foes on the season.

Live video and live stats will be available for all four home games by visiting WolverineGreen.com, while Saturday's game at Brigham Young will be televised on BYUtv and will also feature live stats by visiting BYUCougars.com.

The Wolverines (11-16) will enter the contests off a 2-3 outing at their final preseason tournament -- the San Diego Classic II -- this past weekend. UVU recorded wins over UConn and Western Carolina at the tourney but fell to San José State, San Diego and Santa Clara. Utah Valley finished with an 11-14 record in its five preseason tournaments with wins over a number of big-name schools including No. 25 Cal State Fullerton, Wisconsin (receiving votes for the top 25), Indiana, Virginia, New Mexico, Texas Tech and UConn.

In the victory over UConn this past weekend, UVU managed to hold on to an early lead as it went on to defeat the Huskies by a score of 4-3. Junior Dynasty Lauvai recorded a solo home run in the contest and senior Megan Peay added a clutch insurance run via a fifth-inning sacrifice fly.

Sophomore starter Bailey Moore went the distance in the circle for the Wolverines to record the win over UConn as she managed to pitch out of a seventh-inning jam. After allowing back-to-back singles to start the seventh, Moore then battled back by retiring the next three hitters to help preserve the one-run win for the Wolverines.

Moore leads the Wolverines in the circle on the season with a 7-9 record and a 4.08 ERA. She also paces the WAC in innings pitched with 104.2 innings. After hitting .467 for the second consecutive weekend tournament, sophomore Brianna Gatlin leads UVU at the plate with a .390 average and five home runs. She is also second on the team in RBIs with 13.

About Weber State
Weber State will come to town on Wednesday with a 17-10 record after going 4-1 at the San Diego Classic II last weekend. The Wildcats picked up wins over San Diego, UNLV, Harvard and Western Carolina. WSU's lone loss of the tournament was a one-run contest to Long Beach State. Weber State will enter Wednesday's doubleheader having won seven of its last nine games.

Aubrey Whitmer leads WSU offensively as she is hitting .427 through 27 games with seven doubles and 15 RBIs. Alyson Kulp is next as she'll enter Wednesday hitting .388 with four homers and 26 runs batted in. Sierra Whitmer paces the Wildcat pitching staff with a 4-1 record and a 2.27 ERA while MaCauley Flint is right behind her with a 2.90 earned run average and a 4-4 win-loss record.

Wednesday's first game between the UVU and WSU will mark the 23rd all-time meeting between the two programs. The Wolverines will enter play with a 15-7 all-time advantage but the Wildcats defeated UVU by a score of 5-0 at the Long Beach Louisville Slugger Invitational in late February.

About Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State will enter the week with a 12-13 record but will host both Iowa and Central Arkansas in Stillwater on Tuesday before making the trip to Utah for Thursday's twin bill in Orem. The Cowgirls swept a three-game set over Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Cowgirl Stadium last weekend and have won six of their last seven ballgames.

Shelby Davis leads the Cowgirl offense with 33 hits and a .465 batting average, while Tiffany Mikkelson tops the team in the power department with seven home runs and 28 RBIs. Jessi Haffner paces the OSU rotation with a 3-0 record and a 2.13 ERA.

Thursday's contests between the Wolverines and Cowgirls will mark the third and fourth all-time meetings between the two teams in program history. The series is tied at 1-1 after UVU handed OSU a 3-1 defeat at the Red Desert Classic in St. George, Utah, in 2013. In that game, junior Dynasty Lauvai homered and Morgan Smith went 2-for-3 with an RBI to help lead the Wolverines to their first win over a Big 12 foe in school history.

About BYU
The Cougars will enter the week with a 17-7 record but will host Oklahoma State in a three-game weekend series prior to Saturday afternoon's contest versus the Wolverines. BYU went 4-1 at the San Diego Classic II last weekend and has won 10 of its last 11 games. During the final day of the San Diego Classic II, Cougar coach Gordon Eakin notched his 500th career victory in a 4-1 win over UConn.

Gordy Bravo paces the Cougars with a .450 batting clip and 15 RBIs, while Lacey Hofstedt is right behind her at .437. McKenna Bull has been a workhorse for BYU in the circle on the season as she has appeared in 22 of Brigham Young's 24 ballgames. Bull holds a 17-4 record and a 1.70 ERA in 127.1 innings pitched.

Saturday's meeting between UVU and BYU will mark the 34th all-time contest between the neighboring schools. The Cougars will enter play with a 30-3 series advantage.

Up Next for the Wolverines
UVU will head to Eugene, Oregon, to face the No. 2 Oregon Ducks in a doubleheader on March 25 in a rematch from the 2014 NCAA Tournament. The Wolverines will then begin their second season of play in the WAC that weekend (March 27-28) when they travel to Las Cruces to face New Mexico State in a three-game series.
