OREM, Utah – Fresh off of a seven-game homestand, the Utah Valley University softball team will begin a six-game road stretch at in-state foe Utah State on Tuesday. The Wolverines and Aggies will play a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at USU's Johnson Field.

Live stats and video will be available for both games by visiting UtahStateAggies.com.

"Utah State is a great hitting ball club, but we'll be ready for them," said UVU head coach Nikki Palmer. "We're looking forward to Tuesday's games. In-state rivalries are always fun."

UVU (15-29, 3-6 WAC) will head to Logan after taking one of three from conference foe Seattle U at Wolverine Field this past weekend. After dropping the opener, 9-6, freshman Makayla Shadle led UVU to a 4-2 win over the Redhawks in the first game of Saturday's twin bill. Shadle gave up just two runs and five hits in six innings of work en route to the victory. Seattle then responded by taking the finale by a score of 11-8, however, to take the series.

In Saturday's nightcap of the doubleheader/series finale, SU jumped out to an 11-0 lead. The Wolverines then countered back with seven runs of their own in the fourth inning and added another run in the seventh, but the comeback fell short as the Redhawks managed to hold on to the 11-8 victory.

Freshman Jaylen Watson led UVU offensively in the series as she went 5-for-10 with two home runs, a double and four RBIs. Junior Morgan Smith and sophomore Kori Barrios too played well as they hit .625 and .571 over the weekend, respectively.

Sophomore Brianna Gatlin leads the Wolverines at the plate on the season with a .367 batting average. Watson is next with a .330 clip and she also paces the team with eight home runs and 21 RBIs. Shadle leads UVU in the circle with a 5-4 record and a 4.88 ERA.

About Utah State
The Aggies (16-26, 8-7 MW) will enter Tuesday off of taking one of three versus Fresno State in Mountain West play at home this past weekend. USU won the middle game 4-3 but lost the opener 5-2 and the finale 8-0. Utah State has won four of its last six contests, however, after sweeping a three-game conference series at Colorado State the previous weekend.

Sarah Chow leads USU with a .426 batting average and six stolen bases. Hailey Froton is next at .362, and she also paces the squad in RBIs with 41. Noelle Johnson is tops in the circle with a 14-12 record and a 3.68 ERA.

Tuesday's games will mark the 28th and 29th all-time meetings between UVU and USU. The Aggies hold an 18-9 series advantage but the Wolverines took the last contest at Johnson Field in 2013 by a score of 3-2.

Up Next for the Wolverines
UVU will continue its road stretch at Grand Canyon this weekend. The Wolverines and second-place Antelopes will play a three-game WAC series beginning at 6 p.m. MT on Friday in Phoenix.
