2015 WAC Tournament BracketEDINBURG, Texas – Utah Valley University dropped the final game of the regular season, 11-3, at Texas-Pan American on Saturday. With the win UTPA claimed the series and a doubleheader split.
Greyson Bogden homered twice for UVU, marking the first multi-home run game for the Wolverines since
Sean Moysh did during the 2014 season at New Mexico State.
The Wolverines (18-33) finish the WAC season 14-13 and will be the No. 5 seed in next week's WAC Tournament. UVU opens the tournament on Wednesday, May 20 at 3 p.m. MST/4 p.m. MDT against last season's champion, Sacramento State. The game is a rematch of 2014 final, won 10-3 by the Hornets.
Texas-Pan American (21-30-1) finished 6-20-1 in the conference and did not qualify for the tournament. It was the Broncs' final game under the current name and nickname. This summer the school name changes to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with the nickname of the Vaqueros.
In the series finale, UTPA used a pair of five-run innings en route to building a big lead.
For the Wolverines, their first run came on a solo home run from Bogden on the first pitch of the top of the fifth inning. His second, a two-run shot, extended the game in the seventh with the contest on the verge of ending via the 10-run rule.
The Broncs finished with 16 hits, getting four hits apiece from seniors Logan Landon and Lee Rios, who batted in the top two spots in the order. Victor Garcia, Jr. had three RBIs for UTPA.
Marco Briones, making his first career start, took the loss for Utah Valley while UTPA senior Robert Quinonez picked up the win, his third, in 7.1 innings of work while allowing three runs on eight hits.

Grand Canyon claimed the WAC regular season title by defeating Sacramento State, 6-3, on Saturday. The Antelopes are not eligible for the tournament in just their second season of reclassification from NCAA Division II to DI athletics.
Seattle and CSU Bakersfield will be the top two seeds and will both have byes in the opening round. North Dakota swept New Mexico State to move all the way up to the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 Northern Colorado on Wednesday at 7 p.m. MST.
