LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- Lucas Cawley's overhead bicycle kick in the 98th minute sent Utah Valley University to a 2-1 overtime win over Pacific on Friday at the Johann Memorial Classic.

The Wolverines (3-0-0) led 1-0 until the final minute of regulation when the Tigers (0-3-0) scored to force overtime. That set up Cawley's golden goal, rebounded off of a Skyler Milne header, which gave Utah Valley its second overtime win of the season.

"That overhead bicycle kick by Lucas Cawley for the game-winner was absolutely unbelievable," UVU head coach Greg Maas said. "This was a difficult game. Pacific is a good program, they're well coached, and they showed that today. That late goal helps define who we are. As I told the boys, adversity defines character. I thought we had moments today that we matured and certainly the way we finished off was fantastic."

Thomas Loomis scored his first career goal, which gave UVU the 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute. Loomis took the ball near midfield and evaded four defenders before firing his shot just outside the 18 into the lower left corner.

That goal held until the 90th minute, when a Camden Riley header off of a Kirk Kappelhoff corner kick tied the match, forcing the extra frame.

The win in the first overtime marks the second time in the first three games this season that UVU has won in extra time. The Wolverines won, 1-0, at UMass a week ago in the season opener.

Utah Valley finished with 17 shots, 10 on goal, while Pacific had 12 shots, four on goal. Collin Partee had three saves in goal for the Wolverines with Curtis Goldsmith recorded seven saves for the Tigers.

UVU will face Saint Joseph's on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. PT/11:30 a.m. MT on Sunday to close out its weekend.
