UTAH VALLEY OPENS WAC PLAY FRIDAY NIGHT AGAINST CSU BAKERSFIELD
The Utah Valley women's soccer team looks to keep its home unbeaten streak alive as the Wolverines open Western Athletic Conference play against CSU Bakersfield on Friday at Clyde Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Utah Valley (6-4-1) heads into Friday's match after wrapping up non-league play with a 1-0 road loss at Seattle U on Saturday. Seattle U put the ball in the back of the net in the 56th minute to secure the win.
Breanna DeWaal led the Wolverines with two shots, including one on goal.
Sarah Cipperley also had a shot on goal against the Redhawks.
Brooklyn Nielsen played all 90 minutes in the box against SU. The freshman keeper tallied three saves on 14 Redhawk shots. The Wolverines extended their home unbeaten streak to an impressive 14 matches last week in a 2-1 overtime win over Grand Canyon.
Alexis Peterson registered the game-winning golden goal in the 98th minute to secure the victory over the Antelopes after receiving a pass in the box from
Sydney Fitzpatrick. The score was Peterson's team-leading fifth goal of the season. UVU has not lost a match at home since falling to Seattle U on Nov. 1, 2014.
Peterson leads the Wolverines with five goals and 10 points this season.
Abby Jameson and Kirk each own two goals, while eight other Wolverines have each scored at least one goal this season. DeWaal leads the Wolverines with 38 shots, including a team-best 13 shots on goal. She also fronts UVU with three assists.
Sara Callister and
Breanna McCarter rank second on the team with 17 shots apiece. Nielsen leads the team in the box with a 4-2-1 record. She has 38 saves and owns a .864 save percentage on the season.
As a team, Utah Valley has netted 17 goals while allowing opponents just 12. The Wolverines average 14.1 shots a match with a .387 shots on goal percentage. The Wolverines are holding opponents to just a .091 shot percentage while limiting opponents to a 1.09 goals per game average. UVU also holds a 155-132 shots advantage and a 62-51 edge on corner kicks.

ABOUT CSU BAKERSFIELD
CSU Bakersfield holds a 4-7-1 overall record this season. The Roadrunners head into Friday night's match fresh off a 3-2 double overtime win at UC Riverside on Sept. 25. The win at UC Riverside was just CSUB's second road win of the season as the team holds a 2-6 road mark this year. CSU Bakersfield has tallied 19 goals this season while allowing 25. Sophomore midfielder Sabrina Delgado has scored six of CSUB's 15 goals this season. She also leads the team with 24 shots, including a team-best 12 on goal. Freshman defender Sophie Freeman fronts the team with four assists, while sophomore keeper Jen Padilla leads the team in the box with 44 saves and two shutouts. CSUB is coached by Gary Curneen who is in his third season with the team.
SERIES HISTORY VS. CSU BAKERSFIELD
Utah Valley and CSU Bakersfield meet on the pitch for the ninth time in the two team's history. The Wolverines hold an all-time 7-1-0 advantage in the series. Since falling to the Roadrunners, 3-1, on Oct. 23, 2008, Utah Valley has rattled off seven straight wins over CSUB, including a pair of 3-2 victories last year. UVU holds an all-time 3-1-0 series lead in games played at Clyde Field.

HOME SWEET CLYDE FIELD - UNBEATEN STREAK AT 14 MATCHES
Utah Valley has enjoyed an impressive 20-2-4 at Clyde Field over the past three seasons. The Wolverines hold an all-time 65-32-10 mark at home since UVU became a Division I member in 2003. UVU went unbeaten at home last season with a 9-0-1 record. The team extended its Clyde Field unbeaten streak to 14 matches with its 2-1 overtime win over Grand Canyon on Sept. 26. The Wolverines ranked 24th (1,074 per game) nationally in attendance at Clyde Field last season. UVU already ranks 12th in the nation in attendance after welcoming an average of 1,397 fans through the gates though three home matches this year.
UVU RANKED NO. 10 IN NSCAA TOP-10 WEST REGION POLL
After falling out of the top-10 NSCAA West Regional Poll last week, Utah Valley has made its way back into the poll. UVU is ranked No. 10 in this past week's poll after going 1-1-0 last week with a win at home over Grand Canyon and a road loss at Seattle U. The Wolverines have been ranked as high as No. 8 in the poll this season.
UTAH VALLEY'S HOLDS TOP RPI IN THE WAC
After debuting at No. 82 in the NCAA's first RPI release of the season on Sept. 19, Utah Valley now holds the No. 109 RPI rating in the country, according to the NCAA. UVU continues to hold the top RPI in the WAC at 109, followed by Seattle U (142), Grand Canyon (176), CSU Bakersfield (197), UMKC (236), UTRGV (295), New Mexico State (300) and Chicago State (330).

Brooklyn Nielsen holds the highest individual national ranking on the team as she ranks 30th nationally in save percentage at .864. She also ranks 33rd nationally and first in the WAC with a .675 goals against average. UVU leads the WAC with 62 corner kicks this year. The Wolverines rank second in the WAC in shots (156), and assists (15).
KIRK AND CALLISTER ENTER ALL-TIME UVU CAREER CHARTS
Senior forward
Taylor Kirk ranks in the top-10 in three different all-time UVU career statistical rankings. Kirk is tied for fourth all time with six game-winning goals, just two away from the all-time best mark of eight. Kirk is tied for ninth all-time in goals with 13 and ranks 10th all-time in points with 35.
Sara Callister is 10th all-time in assists with 10.
UVU WRAPS UP NON-CONFERENCE PLAY WITH 1-0 LOSS AT SEATTLE U
Utah Valley gave up a goal in the 56th minute and couldn't recover in a 1-0 loss to Seattle U in the Wolverine's final non-conference match of the season on Oct. 1. With the setback, Utah Valley falls to 6-4-1 overall on the season, while Seattle U improves to 5-5-1 with the win. The two teams will meet again on Oct. 28 in a conference match at Clyde Field.

Isabelle Butterfield scored the game winner in the 56th minute after finding a corner kick in the box and shooting it in the back of the net for the score. Hope Fleckner and Karli White were credited with assists on the goal. Seattle U out-shot Utah Valley 14-6 on the night, including a 4-2 advantage on goal.
Breanna DeWaal led the Wolverines with two shots, including one on goal.

LOOKING AHEAD
Utah Valley continues WAC play on the road against Grand Canyon on Oct. 9. The team then travels to play UT Rio Grande Valley on Oct. 14 before traveling to New Mexico State on Oct. 16. UVU's next home match is set for Oct. 20 against Chicago State.
